Artemis Fowl and the Anticlimactic Showdown
I was pretty disappointed by the final showdown and conclusion to Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex. I thought the last fight was pretty underwhelming, and the kidnapping of No.1 didn't really go anywhere. I did think that Orion coming out and saving the day after Artemis was mind-slaved was pretty clever, though. Turnball's wife sacrificing herself to save everyone else was pretty sad and unexpected, along with Turnball helping her to the cockpit so he could join her in the afterlife. Artemis being checked into a mental ward wasn't what I thought would happen, because I figured he'd be lifted from the complex by the power of friendship, so I'm glad I was wrong. Aside from the disappointing villain, I'd say this book was pretty good. Not as great as the other books in the series, but I guess that's what happens when you make too many sequels.
