I really pity Theon Greyjoy. He's without a doubt the unluckiest person in A Dance with Dragons and Game of Thrones in general, and that's saying a lot. It was horrific how he was treated by almost everyone who knew him, and even worse how he was tortured and brainwashed, and left as a piece in the game of thrones. I feel really bad for him, but maybe now that he's not with Ramsay things will start to go his way. I liked that we got some backstory on the first Reek, and I really liked getting some time to learn what Roose Bolton's all about. I think he's one of the most interesting and complex characters in game of thrones, because he seems to actually be loyal to the north, even though he betrayed house Stark. I guess he thought that Robb Stark wasn't giving the right leadership. He's not as cruel or brutal as his son, but Roose does have a mean streak. He certainly wants to look after his own interests, there's no doubt about that. At the same time, I get the feeling that a lot of the things we know about him are just manipulations of the people around him. After all, he's way smarter than Ramsay. Still, I doubt that's the case because he acts the same way around Theon/Reek as he did Arya when she was his servant. Either way, he's one of the people who I think could end up sitting on the iron throne by the time the series ends. I'm not sure he's interested in that, though. I think being Warden of the North is enough for him. I predict that he'll use Theon's claim to the Iron Islands to take control of some of the ironborn. I'm making a bit of a stretch here, but I believe he's teaming up with Littlefinger, or will in the future.
